The history of veneers
Button Badges were invented by a New Jersey firm called Whitehead and Hoag in 1896. Button Plate was born but not exactly like Today we know the logo button and had a front sheet of cloth.
It started with a patch that was planted to jackets, used mainly in the Army to identify classifications and personnel. Plates became the highlight for collectors of stamps alike. The next important period in the plates was in the 1960s, when the world was furious youth riots, nuclear disarmament, peace, love and psychedelic. Remember "Swinging Sixties" the decade of peace, love and happiness, and of course if you had something to say, you put a button plate. And so it was until the next big revolution in the late 1970s punk explosion where the rebellion was the air again. And with that, the plates came into vogue.
